On December 7th members of The Rotary Club of Harlem attended Blackberry Productions 26th Annual Holiday Literacy Extravaganza at the Hardrock Cafe in Times Square. Our newest Rotarian Robin Martin helped with packaging gifts for children in need on December 6th. The presents were then distributed on December 7, with Rotarians Yvette Forbes and Wayne Charles representing the Rotary Club of Harlem.
The Rotary Club of Harlem’s participation in this event was fostered through relationships made at our Annual BBQ in September. Blackberry Productions is a Harlem based documentary theater company. They produce theater that sheds light on issues impacting the Harlem Community. Their focus is to create forums to nurture the spiritual and political health of the communities they work in. They also create safe space for a multitude of voices and perspectives in solution focused reflection.
