Key Projects

Teamwork and collaboration is vital to our service efforts. Here is a list of some of our club programs & initiatives, as well as the partner organizations we work with to benefit the community.
In 2017, our club lost a very dear friend and faithful member, Chanell E. Gatewood, after a long, hard battle with Scleroderma, Chanell is finally at rest. We honor Chanell with the Chanell E. Gatewood Scholarship.

ROTARY CLUB OF HARLEM SPONSORED PROGRAMS

Book Drives

Donated over 3,000 books to Harlem school children throughout the past three years.

Apollo Amateur Night Fundraiser

Rotary Club of Harlem organized this fundraiser to raise funds for the East Africa Famine Crisis.

Annual Rotary BBQ

Raised over $16,000 for local charities at annual BBQ since 2014.

School Supply Campaign

Organized a trip to Ghana, Africa and donated school supplies to rural schools outside of Accra, Ghana with our charity partner Active Plus.

Ambassadorial Scholarship

Rotary Club of Harlem District 7230 2011-2012 Ambassadorial Scholar Marlynne Bidos was awarded this prestigious scholarship and studied abroad in Hong Kong to receive her Master of Laws (LLM) degree which is considered an advanced law certification that has global credibility.

The Outreach Program

Partnered with other NY Rotary clubs to package food for local food pantries.

Healthy Harlem

Annual health fair & workshops educating students and parents on practicing healthy lifestyles.

POLIO PLUS

This international project’s goal is to eradicate polio from the face of the earth.

Disaster Relief for Haiti, Nepal, Philippines Natural Disasters

Our club has raised thousands of dollars to assist with the sheltering, feeding, medical assistance and rebuilding efforts that follow a natural disaster.

Gift of Life District 7230

program to further the cause of world peace and understanding by facilitating free medical services to children suffering from heart disease and other similar or allied diseases, regardless of race, creed or national origin, and who would otherwise lack access to such services.

Literacy Day

Annually read to students with Education Clinic and facilitate book giveaways for the children.

Winter Holiday Toy Drive

Annually collect hundreds of toys for the Fraternite of Notre Dame along with other clubs in the district.

Rotary DAF Grant for Japan Tsunami/Earthquake Relief

Raised over $10,000 for Japan Relief with Manhattan Area Rotary Clubs.

Canaan Senior Center Holiday Party

Sponsor and attend the annual holiday party

Shelter Box

Raised money through Shelter Box to deliver humanitarian relief in the form of equipment and materials that bring shelter, warmth and dignity to people made homeless by natural or other disasters worldwide.
