Rotary Club of Harlem Member Spotlight: Yvette Forbes
Originally from Spanish Harlem, then relocating to the Bronx, and Working in Harlem, Ms. Forbes has been a member of the RCOH since 2014. She attended meetings with a co-worker, and felt right at home with the club, and went on to becoming a solidified member. Also, in 2014 Ms. Forbes was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. However, as a devout Baptist Ms. Forbes did not let this diagnosis stop her from living life. After her surgery Ms. Forbes went back to work, and back to the community activities that she
loved.
In 2015 Ms. Forbes gathered her support team: her Devoted husband, family, and friends together to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park. This has become a yearly tradition that I do for me and to show support for all Breast Cancer survivors and those in remission. This walk is all about showing support and love for one another. My mantra is “I Had Cancer, Cancer Never Had Me! When asked, Ms. Forbes will speak to, and encourage other Survivors, family members, and strangers to encourage them to Keep Faith. But most importantly to Live, Love and Fight. Celebrate with us as She Celebrates 10 years of Being Cancer Free!
From the President:
In honor of Mrs. Forbes continued service to the community and for her continued strength, the Rotary Club of Harlem will include the Breast Cancer walk as part of our annual events. Ms. Forbes, Immediate Past President, has been a instrumental in our clubs continual push for excellence. We are honored to have her as a member of our club and to serve as the newest Foundation Chair
