The Rotary Clubs of Staten Island—North Shore, South Shore, Staten Island—as well as the Rotary Club of Harlem and members of the Staten Island community came together to create 815 boxes of Thanksgiving dinners.
Thanks to Frank Scarangelo of Scaran Heating and Cooling, who generously provided his warehouse for the event once again, pallets of food supplies were ready to go. A fellow Rotarian, Frank has been instrumental in hosting this initiative for several years. Inside the warehouse, a conveyor belt system transformed the space into a hive of activity. Volunteers packed boxes with Thanksgiving staples: canned corn, beans, Jiffy mix, rice and beans, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, and more. Within two hours, the job was done, with every club leaving their mark by signing a box—a new tradition that will carry forward.
This year also marked the beginning of a partnership between the Rotary Club of Harlem and this initiative, building a bridge to our own Food for the Soul event. Together, we’re expanding our impact.
On November 23rd, these dinners will be distributed to families across Staten Island. The North Shore Rotary Club stepped up to coordinate transportation for the event, ensuring everything moved seamlessly. Afterward, we gathered at Mangia in Tottenville to celebrate this act of service, sharing great food and even better company.
This is what Rotary stands for: Service Above Self.
