March 2018 was a fun month for the Rotary Club of Harlem!
On March 2nd we participated in our 4th consecutive year of book donations and read alouds with Harlem students. We donated hundreds of new books to 4 local schools and had 8 volunteers read to children in their classrooms. It was an amazing day and the perfect way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday for Read Across America.
On Saturday March 10th we collaborated with Union Settlement’s Meals on Wheels program to deliver over 1100 meals to senior citizens and physically impaired East Harlem residents. A fantastic opportunity to show our seniors the honor and respect they deserve.
Friday March 16th we packed hundreds of safer sex kits with our partner Iris House for them to do outreach and education in the community. These kits literally save lives and give people the awareness and tools to protect themselves from STD’s.
Tuesday March 27th marked our first ever wine tasting social event. It was a huge success, thanks to the over 40 attendees and the generous hosting of Hamilton Wine House. Dan poured us exquisite wines from all over the globe and shared with us his knowledge of their history and best food pairing options. It was a wonderful evening and a great opportunity to connect with others in our community. Won’t you join us next time?
