15,000 MEALS or MORE! That’s the Rotary Club of Harlem goal for Food for the Soul – Harlem Food Pantry Project event on November 4, 9am – 2pm EST.
Over 100 volunteers will be coming together at the Salvation Army Temple Corps in Harlem to package our target goal of 15,000 meals to feed the hungry in our local community! All meals that are packed beyond the 15,000 mark will go to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Rotary Club of Harlem has partnered with “The Outreach Program” to make an impact in our community. The Outreach Program is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation that organizes food packaging events around the country. With more than 330 million meals packaged to date, the organization’s mission is to provide safe water, food, medical care, and education to those in need, at home and abroad.
The Rotary Club of Harlem will be providing these packaged bags of food to local food pantries just in time for the holiday season. Each bag is fortified with vitamins and contains 6 servings.
These meals will then be distributed to the following local food pantries for distribution to those in need in our community:
- Salvation Army Harlem Temple Corps
- The PILLARS
- Iris House
- Kings Tower Community Center
- St. Charles Borromeo Church
- Fraternite Notre Dame
- City Tabarnacle Church
All meals beyond the 15,000 that are packaged at the event, will be sent out to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands! We’re estimating that with a full force of volunteers and some quick work, we can make a big impact!
Coordinated and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Harlem, this event will directly impact our local community.
